A Workshop that Transcended Language
At Be Moore Interpreting, we know that interpretation is more than just converting words from one language to another, it’s about creating connection. It’s about helping people belong.
Recently, our Spanish interpreter, Smaylin Reyes, shared a powerful reflection after completing an assignment at a senior home as part of The Write to Grow Workshop Program, led by facilitator Hannah Little.
Interpretation Builds Bridges
“As I finish my assignment today at the senior home, I want to share that this has been one of the most rewarding interpretation experiences I’ve ever had. Beyond simply interpreting, I found myself multitasking, supporting individuals with various disabilities and needs, and truly connecting with the clients.
I wasn’t just translating words, I was writing for them, engaging them in conversations, helping them express their thoughts, and encouraging them to participate. By the end of the session, the seniors gave incredibly positive feedback, not only about the workshop itself but also personally to me. They appreciated how I honored their health conditions and individual needs, and they expressed pride in their own participation and contributions.
This experience reminded me that interpreting in another language is not just about communication, it’s about building bridges of understanding and inclusion. As someone whose teaching philosophy and advocacy are grounded in equity and multilingualism, I believe that language is a powerful tool for connection and belonging.
Working with such a caring company makes me even more grateful. Even when we may not always see the full impact of our efforts, we are creating meaningful change in the lives of the clients we serve. Today reaffirmed that our work truly matters, and that every act of empathy, patience, and communication makes a lasting difference.”

Accessibility Expands the Circle
In response, Hannah Little, founder of The Write to Grow Workshop Program, shared this heartfelt message of appreciation:
“The Write to Grow Workshop Program aims to create spaces for people of all ages to reflect, create, and grow. As a monolingual facilitator, I am so happy for the support I've received from interpreters like Smaylin to make these spaces accessible to a wider community. One of the Spanish-speaking participants shared that the workshop helped her know herself better — an impact I strive for with my program and which wouldn't have been possible for that individual without the support of interpreters.”

Interpretation as Connection, Not Just Communication
This exchange reflects what we believe at Be Moore Interpreting: every act of interpretation is an act of inclusion. When interpreters like Smaylin show up with empathy and presence, they make space for every voice to be heard , and every person to feel seen.
We are so proud of our interpreters, facilitators, and clients who recognize that language access isn’t just a service, it’s a shared commitment to understanding one another.
Our work is far from done, but together, we’re building access one conversation at a time.
In service,
